Once Upon a Time, All Animals Said "Quack"

The first animal sound Paloma learned was "Quack," and she quickly decided that all the animals, from the babies on the farm to the nighttime animals in her My First Animal Board book said "Quack." The cats said "Quack" and sheep said "Quack." Everything that wasn't a human being or a plan or inanimate object said, you guessed it, "Quack." Cute, right? I'm glad we appreciate and make a note of things like that, since in Paloma's world, animal vocabulary has expanded.

New farm

Now animals say "Quack," "Vuff vuff," and "Maaah." A very limited few also say something that sounds like "Bzzzzz" but comes out more like a very wet "Thbbpt." Ducks still quack, of course, and the vuffs are applied to dogs (very European dogs, presumably) and anything remotely resembling a dog, from gorillas to otters and lambs. The maaahs are Paloma's absolutely too too adorable way of saying "Miaow." That, she applies to cats and only cats. Maybe because cats are the only animal she's been exposed to since 12 days after her birth?

What will animals say next? Stay tuned to find out!

  3. She is so cute. I like the European dog, "Vuff." Do any other animals still say quack other than ducks? She sounds like an animal lover already!
