It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas (Crafts)!

Oh man, I am super excited to announce the winner of my Shabby Apple giveaway! But you're going to have to wait just a little bit longer because I want to talk about the non-Thanksgiving portion of our long Thanksgiving weekend. Expect to see the winner announced tonight!

Just in case anyone has been wondering, yes, we are still committed to the idea of having a completely handmade Christmas. This is about the time I usually start to get nervous and so start buying stuff... but all it took was one peek at my checking account to reaffirm that it's going to be all homemade this holiday season! For those keeping score, we're not even halfway done, eek!

christmas crafts

Luckily, I have a willing partner in crime who totally sat down with me at 9:30 p.m. last night to indulge my desire to do crazy things with potatoes a la Design Mom and her brood. Obviously, I can't show you too much of what we made because some of our gift recipients read this very blog, but I can at least show you some of the fun! Isn't the BabbyDaddy cute with a paint brush full of glitter paint in his hand?

Unfortunately, our plan to have the Babby help (at the original start time of 4 p.m.) backfired. Mainly because the subtleties that divide painting on paper with washable paint and painting on fabric with paint that must not touch anything but its intended destination was too much for her to grasp. Especially after skipping her nap to go to our town's Christmas parade!

Christmas parade

This was the Babby's first ever parade, and I'm happy to say she really loved it! (Here's a pic someone else took - I feel like I look super weird in it but I'll share anyway because it's not their fault. The rest of my fam looks beautiful!) She especially the music and the throwing candy part. She only had one wee lollipop but the parade happened to start right at naptime and by the time it was over, she was too amped to snooze. Trying to do crafts on top of it all was a definitely no go.

But it was still a good day, and the BabbyDaddy and I did get to check off another set of gifts from our handmade Christmas list! *pumps fist* Stay tuned for more handmade Christmas updates to come!

  1. And yet it's so tiny wee that only a very masculine sort of small person could really pull it off!

Show me some love!
