I was born a long, long time ago in a place that was warm all year round. Somehow I've ended up in my 30s, in a place where the heat is still on in late May. How'd I get where I am today? It's a long, likely dull story involving divorce (on the part of my parents), dreams of being an artist, dreams of singing opera professionally, stupid boyfriends, giving up all my dreams for the pursuit of science before giving up the science, vowing never to settle, and finally settling on spending my days doing the one thing that didn't make me want to die after five minutes.
That's writing, for the uninitiated.
Somehow I managed to get a degree after 4.5 years of switching majors every semester, and then I got a job in journalism. If you can call reporting at a two-bit weekly "journalism." Freelancing, back when freelancing was less intensely competitive and paid more, saved me from journalism, and then blogging saved me from freelancing and even got me a book deal with Simon & Schuster.
See Exhibit A
It's funny - the year I wrote my book was the same year The BabbyDaddy and I got married and the same year that we bought our little house, but ask me about 2007, and it's the book that stands out. But we did get married, and if we didn't buy the house, I don't know how we got saddled with this huge northeastern U.S.-size mortgage. Only, what, twenty six more years to go before we own the whole house? Before we had the Babby, we practiced the whole being parents thing on five, yes, five cats. None of whom liked wearing diapers much, even though one should be wearing them full time (the little jerk).
And then came Babby. See Exhibit B:

I've been writing here ever since I found out I was expecting since, year, I obviously do know how is babby formed. Also, how girl get pragnent. But as for whether they need to do way instain mother, I'm not touching that one.

What all has happened since I started I KNOW HOW IS BABBY FORMED? I've worked a ton and played a ton, enjoyed all the ups and downs of helping turn a premature newborn into a regular newborn into an infant into a toddler, I've transitioned from being a WAHM (that's work at home mother) to being one of those horrible mothers - I kid, I kid - who lets someone else raise her child, I've been pregnant with twins and then unpregnant, and I've tried my hand at all kinds of crafty projects even though I don't exactly have the time.
Heck, I shouldn't even technically be writing this right now - I should be working! But, heh, what else is new?
So that's the BabbyMama in a nutshell. I welcome your feedback, I love making new blog friends, and I try to blog at least three times a week and quite often fail miserably at that goal. Are you with me?
Awesome, I'm so glad you're here. For real. Because I get lonely when no one is reading my words. That said, feel free to email me at christa d terry at gmail if you want to talk about how we can work together on some shared goals.
